Jamali is releasing a new album called Toxic Candy, which they say is a combination of love ballads and a darker side of dance and electronic anthems.

Jamali was formed after the 2004 Popstars and is made up of Liesl Penniken, Jacqui Carpede and Mariechan Luiters.

Toxic Candy is their fourth album. It will be launched tonight.

“The launch is set to be a musical extravaganza and will showcase Jamali’s new songs, dance routines and cutting edge fashion style,” Jamali’s representative, Rose Harman, says

Jamali worked with Make the Circle Bigger singer JR and Prot on what is earmarked to be their first single, Jati.

“Toxic Candy serves up an eclectic mix of sounds that are amplified by an impressive list of collaborations. The song Heaven features the astounding Soweto Gospel choir, who add warmth and richness to the music,” Harman says.

Group member Mariechan reckons: “The title of the album, Toxic Candy, sums up what the album is about – the contrasting sides of Jamali’s music, personality and style.”

Tickets are available now at Computicket for R100
