Durban will host the 2013 World Transport Games which will start on the 28th of July.
In a statement released by the organisers it was stated that “the 19th edition of the World Transplant Games are likely to see around 1500 athletes from up to 55 countries compete in Durban in a range of discipline from July 28 to August 4, 2013.”
All of the competitors have received life-saving transplants of some kind.
The tournament has been staged worldwide since 1978 and the disciplines include swimming, gold volleyball and cycling.
One of the main aims of the games is to raise awareness of organ donation in South Africa and on the continent.
